wiki software

Wikis can be described as software very similar to a forum, where users post information on a web page that others can read and post comments on. The wiki, however, is usually used internally as a platform for employees or collaborators to use to discuss ideas about a project. Only registered users are granted access to view information and it’s possible to only allow certain individuals to add to a wiki. These methods differ slightly from the web’s most popular wiki, known as the wikipedia, where a network of collaborators post encyclopedia-like definitions about subjects. The idea here is that experts in specific areas should come together to help define everything and everything, constantly updating entries as more information about a subject presents itself. (It should be noted that many agree that while this concept makes sense in theory, that much of the information on wikipedia is biased or outright untrue—something we as humans are notorious for doing.)
