I’m sure that most of the world has “Googled” themselves at some point. While most may see it as a time-killing novelty to go rummaging through Google’s results to find things either about themselves or friends and family, I see it as very very important to not only my career but to my general reputation as well. I was out of the top ten results on Google for a short time and have made a triumphant return at # 6.

I’d heard of it before but never looked into it, but video blogging site Revver allows users who upload video to monetize their efforts by placing ads at the end of each video. Could this be how Google plans on monetizing the millions of videos uploaded to YouTube? I guess we’ll have to wait and see.

I think it’s great that Google created a service to help teachers learn and teach Google. We all know that the ‘net and especially Google is and forever will be an important aspect in learning and researching in schools. I’m sure many teachers who may not be as ‘net savvy as their students will appreciate this, and it will also enable them to teach students in the future on how to use all of Google’s technology to properly get the job done. Thank Google for being socially responsible on that one.

Again from Jim Boykin, a post regarding Google’s Age -Linking Factors. Jim talks about how Google may actually document the date a link was found to a website, thus proving that older sites with old links have more of a chance of high search engine rankings than a new site with newer links.

From Andy Beal/C-Net: Google has officially opened it’s new offices in NYC.
One must wonder what long-term plans Google may have in possibly setting up a Wi-Fi network (read:free Wi-Fi) similar to the one set-up in it’s home of Mountain View, CA. Not that you can’t already find free Wi-Fi in parts of the city, but it’s probably in Google’s pipeline. I think this official transition to NYC just shows how big Google has become in regards to being more than just a search engine.
