OpenWebDesign.org Bullshit

So, according to a very well known open-source web designers blog, some idiot purchased openwebdesign.org and is now inserting sponsored links and HIDDEN links throughout the free open source templates. This has obviously pissed off many of the designers who supported the site in the past and has me feeling like I woke up on the wrong side of the bed. If anybody has any other info as to what’s going on here, please let me know - ’cause what’s going on now is, pardon my french, bullshit.

So last night I was asked whether or not links should open in a new window. The person asking is a web-design major who’s teacher instructed him that, by opening links in new browser windows, you’ll keep the user at your site. Wrong. Here’s a few reasons why.

Death of Microsoft Frontpage?

Jim Boykin talks today about an email he received concerning Microsoft Frontpage. I was unaware that FrontPage was being discontinued, and the article goes into more specifics of that. I say good riddance (even though I learned using FrontPage). I’d rather see someone use Wordpress before building a site in FrontPage.

Dump your Sitemap?

SEO BlackHat has some rather interesting thoughts on whether or not you should incorporte that Google Sitemap. While I think his points are valid, why not incorporate a sitemap for the viewer AND for the search engine ?
