LONDON - JUNE 16:  Chris Martin of Coldplay pe...Let’s be honest here. I don’t like Coldplay. Never have, most likely never will.

However, when I heard that they were being sued for plagiarism by Joe Satriani, I found it hard to believe. I just couldn’t see Coldplay stealing from someone like Satch. And, since there are also so many notes to go around in music, accusations of plagiarism nothing new.

One of my favorite bands out there right now just self-released a new album.

Through their own Abstract Dragon imprint, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club has digitally released a collection of ten “instrumental/ambient” tracks entitled The Effects of 333. You can purchase the album through the band’s website for $6. You’ll also get a poem to download, which is hidden in one of the tracks, and an acoustic version of “Too Real”.

Can’t Sign To A Label, Become A Company Instead

Earlier this week I read on NME about this band from New York City who decided to incorporate themselves, instead of signing to a major label.

In one hell of a promotional tactic, Francis and The Lights received $100,000 from the Normative Music Company, kind of like an online startup, to help become Francis and Lights, LLC.

w:The Cure performing live in 2004The Cure are currently streaming their new album, 4:13 Dream, via MySpace. The album will officially hit the shelves tomorrow.

But what was pretty unique about 4:13 Dream was the release of a new single on the 13th of every month until the album’s release. By the way, The Cure didn’t just a single track every month, these were actual singles with b-sides.
