It’s funny that when you’re not feeling down you want to listen to some mood music. And, for me at least, Chris Cornell is a one of the masters at self-loathing music. So naturally I’ve been listening to a lot of his stuff lately.
Green River, which was the Seattle band that featured future Pearl Jam members Stone Gossard and Jess Ament and Mudhoney members Mark Arm, Steve Turner and Alex Vincent, are prepping for their first show in around 21 years.
Jed Carlson takes a look at his very own ReverbnNation’s “Fan Funnel” and a closer look into their“Band Equity” score via Music Think Tank. A very adult and business oriented tool that takes marketing principals many bands don’t think about (how to build and nurture your email lists, track conversion data) and offer it in a user-friendly way.
Last.Fm is now offering royalties to Indy bands for streaming content. While it’s probably won’t make you a zillionare, it’s still nice to know you are being compensated for streaming your work. Many similar opportunities will pop up over the next few years for independent artists to reap their own streaming radio royalties, and one day they might all add up to bring an additional revenue stream to your work.
As usual, I’m posting ReverbNation’s latest press release as the service hit’s the 200,000 benchmark and continues to be THE service to use to help promote your music - there’s nothing out there quite like it!

Could Blur possibly be joining the seemingly endless slew of disbanded 90’s acts who want to give it another go?

You’ve also probably ripped it into a computer and have mp3’s available for sale through your website, have uploaded them to all the places on the web like MySpace, Imeem, and Reverbnation, and are ready to start selling tracks and albums.
Well it’s Independence Day, so it only seems fair that we do an FYI on The Presidents of the United States of America.
Seems I can’t handle my blogroll like I used to, and needed a day to recoup. Here’s the rest of news and tips from my overstuffed blog reader:
The STP frontman has announced the release date for his upcoming solo album, which will follow his first solo album, 1998’s 12 Bar Blues. The still untitled album will hit shelves on October 7 through Weiland’s own label, Softdrive Records.

Geez, it’s been a crazy couple of weeks. I tend to work hard and also play hard, and was out of town for a couple of days to catch Pearl Jam once in Camden and TWICE in New York City at Madison Square Garden.

This song is dedicated to Lindsay Lohan, since it’s her birthday and all.
I got a message from our good “friend” Tom the other day regarding MySpace’s new “Find Your Fans” ad service. Here is the message:
