Albert is back! If you’ve been reading the blog at Evolvor since last spring, you may remember the first annual Pearl Jam Month of May and all the great in depth content from my bud Al Costill. Well, after a year long stint working on another music blog, the planets aligned and he’s here full time to dish the rock music news and provide some great analysis and conversation regarding rock music past and present. And I will be here to probably disagree with him on some things, which will make some great arguments! Feel free to join in when you get the chance.
I am almost in tears…
I mentioned a few weeks ago that Staind was offering some very cool pricing options to sell it’s latest release, “The Illusion of Progress”, which goes on sale today.
Metallica debuted a new song over the weekend at Ozzfest called “Cyanide”. Luckily for us they released a decent-sounding stream of the song for us to pick apart before they release their first single “The Day That Never Comes” some time before the end of the month.
Those who have been following my blog for a long time no that originally, Evolvor.com was just another run-of-the-mill internet marketing blog. About 3 months after I started blogging, I began to feature some music related content to liven the place up.
The ‘Press Widget’ allows Artists to aggregate accolades from the media or fans into one place, and then deploy them to all of their other sites. Artists can add an unlimited number of clippings, with each one containing a link back to the original source for fans to read more.
Let’s get one thing out of the way; your music is important. It’s your art, it’s why you’re here on the planet, and you’ve got to pour your blood, sweat, tears and soul into it. It has to be real and you have to feel it. They have to feel it. it’s all about the music.
I’ve got to give another shout out to my friends 61 North. They played an amazing show at the Deer Park Tavern the other night and am looking forward to their show Thursday as well. It’s great to see someone who you rode the school bus with up on stage playing some great original music (with an occasional cover of ole faves like Pearl Jam’s Dissident thrown into the mix.
So says grindcore band Berzerker. They recently left their label and like true metal, they gave ‘em the finger and are now on their own. I love this video they put together to announce to the world their departure, not because they are doing anything crazy or revolutionary, but because the guy rips his face off at the end (who doesn’t love that?)
Boru Vodka, DigitalCafeTour, and ReverbNation have teamed up to bring you the “Defend the Bar Band” contest!
As usual, I’m getting drunk on blogs and sharing the digital music and online marketing world’s recent greatest hits.
It’s no secret around here that I’m good pals with Canadian pop-rockers Fear Zero. Leader Ed Sadler recently gave us a sneak-peak into a guitar solo track off the new album “Whole Damn Nation”. I’ll let the video speak for itself.
What a rollercoaster ride it’s been over the last week or so! If you didn’t notice (and shame on you), Evolvor.com was down for oh about 3 and a half days! WTF happened?
I’ll have to apologize to the readers here at evolvor.com - I’ve been working on the site all week to get it properly upgraded to the new Wordpress 2.6, as well as ready a new theme, and we’ve been running into bugs here and there.
