AC/DC Streaming New Single “Rock N’ Roll Train”

AC/DC are currently streaming their first single “Rock N’ Roll Train” from their upcoming album Black Ice via the band’s official site. You can also expect to hear the track on radio airwaves sometime today.

Black Ice will be released on October 20 as a Wal-Mart exclusive. You can expect to see Wal-Mart doing all sorts of AC/DC activities as the release date approaches, so if you shop there and are a fan, keep your eyes and ears open.

The band recorded the album in eight weeks in Vancouver and was produced by one of the best producers around Brendan O’Brien. The man has worked with STP, Pearl Jam, Bruce Springsteen to name just a few. Black Ice is also the first AC/DC album in eight years, their last album was 2000’s Stiff Upper Lip.

“Rock N’ Roll Train” is pretty much your standard AC/DC tune. These guys prove that old saying “if it’s not broke, then don’t fix it”. They found their sound and they’re sure as hell gonna stick to it.

I think one of the biggest reasons why AC/DC still seems relevant is that they seem to work with great producers. If they didn’t work with Brandon O’ Brien on Black Ice, I probably wouldn’t give two shits about this new album. But, I know that he’s a great producer and that he would bring out the best of the band. For your information, AC/DC have also worked with a guy by the name of Rick Rubin.

As for the Wal-Mart exclusive, I think it’s moronic to limit yourselves like that. But, it worked for the fucking Eagles and eventually Black Ice will hit other stores. My understanding is that Wal-Mart has first dibs for about a year and then it by sold in other stores.

I must say that this is the first new AC/DC song that I’ve actually liked in a long time. But I’ve started liking AC/DC again after a long run of disgust for them. I think it was the fact that I heard AC/DC on the radio probably every day of my life for a long time. was a huge fan back in the eraly days of High school but then it just grew old when you hear them all the time. Usually it’s the same batch of songs. At least this one is cool and will no doubt be overplayed for the next 6 months or so until they release another single for radio play.
