I just caught an update from our favorite band Pearl Jam that Stone Gossard got the boys together for a cool little cover of “Rock Around the Clock“, and taking the liberty of changing the chorus to “Rock Around Barack“. The actual band has not stated that they are rooting for Mr. Obama, but it could be the beginning of a possible supporting campaign for the senator.

If you remember, PJ were big supporters of the Green Party and Ralph Nader. Why does this matter? Because they have a hard-core fan following that could lean towards whatever candidate they choose. Or they could lose fans based on their political inclinations - something every band should think about before supporting anyone.

Pearl Jam, especially Mr. Vedder, has never been scared of sharing it’s thoughts on politics. You might be thinking the same thing - just make sure it fits into your band and that your choice is consistent with your image. Politics is a touchy subject for many fans.
