I somehow got to YouTube (it’s so easy to get distracted with video, isn’t it?), and came upon this documentary of “This Music Game”, which discussed several important points about signing to a major record label.

I’m not a big fan of rap, but if there’s one thing I would give props to is how business minded hip-hop artists are. Seriously, these guys have built empires around their music, labels, image, branding, etc. They’ve branched off into other industries like fashion and don’t have to rely on cranking out a new album every 2 years to pay the bills.
