In my world, pretty much anything has been made possible because on the ‘Net. I’m being dead serious. There’s not a thing in the world that I don’t think I can get into and accomplish on some level. The Internet has given everybody the chance to be heard, and your voice can be used to say and do whatever you put your mind to. That doesn’t mean it’s gonna be easy or there’s going to be any guarantees, but the possibilities exist where they did not before.

newspaper1.jpgThat being said, just because we have this all powerful Internet to do all of our bidding for us, doesn’t mean we should forget about traditional advertising and the press. If you really want to be the real deal, you still have to tap into these tangible aspects of reality. People may find out you’re King Kong on the internet and shrug their shoulders and say “meh, whatever.” Shove a USA Today or Rolling Stone in front of their face, and their attitude may change.

The reason for this is many who don’t use the web as much as you do may not understand the impact or importance it is having. Mom and Dad are still a little clueless when it comes to all this (if you’re reading sorry I love you); it kinda doesn’t seem REAL to certain people.

So, as you mosey along towards internet stardom, don’t forget the rest of the world. The local newspapers, the public access cable channels, the press kits, t-shirts, hats and buttons. Create those press releases just like everyone else, and play the game along with the rest on them.

You’ll be giving them something they can hold in their hands, which will reinforce the fact that you’re the real deal. And untill the web fully penetrates TV and radio, having your name their will do the same.
