Thank Alan Coffey for yet again contributing resources for content to evolvor. You’re definitely getting a shout out in my future liner notes.
Forbes has a great article entitled “How to Make Your Own Hit Record“, which everybody needs to check out.
I found myself focused on these lines:
But for performers who can make it work, the rewards can be significantly greater than what they can generate on a major or even an independent label.
That’s the point of it all, kids. You CAN promote yourself. It may not be as easy as signing with the big boys, but it’s much more REWARDING.
If you’re in a band or thinking about joining. one, ask yourself why you’re doing it in the first place. When you take on the risks of dong it yourself, the rewards that follow will only be that much better.
BTW, Forbes, if you’re reading this, you have the most annoying website on the planet. More annoying than MySpace. Just thought you should know!
Thanks Eric:
The tools are evolving and your clients must also. This IS possible. We have seen it happen for “normal” artists.
Keep at it. These artists cannot be expected to do the heavy lifting themselves. I think artistic types might find it too clinical, boring, slow, detailed, whatever.
