Do not forget to drop by your favorite record shop or online music store and pick up my man Chris Cornell’s new album, Carry On, on sale starting today. As I’m sure you know, the former Soundgarden and most recently Audioslave frontman has gone back to the solo game again (he released his first solo album, Euphoria Morning, in 1999).
The new album is currently streaming over at AOL for the time being for those interested in trying it out. Featured on the album are the singles “No Such Thing” and “Arms Around Your Love”, in addition to Cornell’s single from the James Bond flick “You Know My Name” and his rendition of the Michael Jackson classic, “Billie Jean”.
Anytime I talk about Chris Cornell, I gotta mention a song many tend to forget sometimes. It’s called Sunshower, from the 1999 film “Great Expectations”. You sure to remember it once you hear it!
I love the album. It has a happier sound than previous Cornell works. But I am totally satisfied with that. It’s still Cornell …. only in a different place.
People change, music changes, and music style changes with the artist…. the GOOD artists who aren’t afraid to evolve.
Keep with it Chris! I “get” you!!
(And I LOVE Sunshower!!! Seasons is right up there too!)
This album is so great, I grow more attached to it each time I listen to it. Currently my favorite song is Killing Birds. I have heard a lot of people say this album is too happy for Chris and devoted fans were expecting something similar to Euphoria Morning. If you listen to the album closely, it’s really not all that happy. I think the happy tuned music makes you think that, but if you actually listen to the lyrics, you’ll see a darker side. Either way you prefer, it’s just a great album, one that is long overdue from Chris. I know most of us are happy to see him return to what he does best, writing and doing songs on his own, that are not political, but simply classic, soulful songs showcasing that wonderful voice. You can preview the entire album on myspace.com/chriscornell. Also, don’t forget to check out Chris’ version of Billie Jean and also check his website chriscornell.com for his latest tour dates. The tour is one not to be missed, as he plays hits from Soundgarden, Temple of the Dog, Audioslave as well as his solo albums. I have seen two shows on the tour, and it’s been awesome! Pick up this CD today, and enjoy!
I love his new cd! It’s different than anything he’s done, which is refreshing. It’s still Chris Cornell though…creative lyrics, great music, amazing voice! I think it shows his maturity personally and as an artist. The album has something for everyone (rock, blues, funk, ballad). He is great live too!
