Obsessed with Pearl Jam? Well here are some alternative versions of songs for your PJ fix.
Once, Alive and Black: Super producer Brandan O’Brien remixed these songs in 2004 for Rearviewmirrow (Greatest Hits 1991-2003). I think the biggest difference in these songs is during the beginning of Black.
Jeremy: Once again, a different version found on Rearviewmirror.
Wash: A completely different version from Lost Dogs that can be found on the Alive single.
Dirty Frank: A funkier version found on the Even Flow single.
Oceans: There is a “remixed” version on the Even Flow single. To me it sounds more like a demo, with louder drums and more crunching guitars.
State of Love and Trust: Rearviewmirror uses the alternative version that was breifly heard during the movie Singles.
Elderly Woman: There is an all acoustic version on the Go single, it’s sweet and simple.
Alone: A raw and 14 second longer version found on the Go single.
Who You Are: There is a lyrical change between the versions on No Code and Rearviewmirror. No Code version is “circumstance, clapping hands,” while Reaviewmirror version is “avalanche, falling fast.”
Long Road: Eddie does a more worldly version with Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan for the Dead Man Walking soundtrack.
U: The version found on Lost Dogs has drummer Matt Cameron and reworked vocals, while the original from the Wishlist single has drummer Jack Irons.
Yellow Ledbetter: The version on Lost Dogs fades out early (yes that is really obsessive).
