Like it or not, Pearl Jam has an unofficial sixth member, who goes by the name Boom. Boom and Eddie are surfing buddies and for the last five years Boom has been a part of the band. He plays the Hammond B3, piano, keyboards and organ.
Boom adds a little something extra for the band in concert during Alive, Betterman, Rockin in the Free World and of course the dueling battle with Mike during Crazy Mary. Let’s not forget Wasted Reprise and the awesome Love Boat Captain, which he wrote with Eddie.
Although some fans don’t care for Boom, I think most of us are glad that he’s here. He makes an already great band a little bit better.

I LOVE Boom!
I’ve been lucky to see PJ at least once every tour for the last 7 or 8 years, and Boom is a great addition to the live show. Songs that we’ve heard before get a whole new dimension.
Exactly.
I was actually listening to one of my PJ bootlegs and I was amazed at how good “Save You” sounded with Boom. I sometimes get irritated when I hear fans complain about Boom, but everyone has their own opinion.
