Velvet Revolver & Alice In Chains Tour

Word on the street is that Velvet Revolver, the rock supergroup fronted by the Stone Temple Pilot himself Scott Weiland featuring Slash and the rest of the Guns N Roses (minus Axl), will be touring this summer with none other than 90’s rock legends Alice In Chains (RIP Layne).

Right now the only confirmed venue is Jones Beach with reports that the bands are playing PNC at Homedale as well.

Being a huge fan of both of these bands (especially AIC), this is super-exciting news on the rock concert front. Never in my mind did I ever imagine these guys touring together, but man does it make sense.

I got to catch VR right before their first album came out in ‘04 at the Electric Factory, and I got piss drunk and had a blast, just like you can imagine a VR concert being like.

And if you think Alice is not the same without Layne, you’re absolutely right. They still kick ass though, and have a pretty good singer in Comes With the Fall’s William DuVall. He’s been singing with Jerry and co. for a long time (I caught them twice on Jerry’s solo album tours a few years back).

This summer’s gonna rock.
