What is Localband?

Got news today about Localband, a new independent online music community. Whether you are an artist, promoter, industry professional or just a lover of music, Localband provides options for you to feed your music hunger. I’m particularly interested in the musician promotion aspects, offering web space where artists can upload information, photos, and Mp3’s which others can share and tag.

I know there’s plenty of other sites similar to Localband out there on the web, and am going to do a little blurb on each one before compiling all into a big fat list, comparing and deciding which offer the most value. Localband seems like a neat concept because not only is it a artist-meet-fan site, it’s also an artist-meet-promoter-meet-industry networking site. Hopefully the site will attract powerful members of the industry and pull some decent acts out of it.
