Over the weekend there was a lot of talk about a Sony BMG press release. In a nutshell, Sony BMG told any up-and-coming musicians to not send them any more demo tapes, ’cause there not going to listen to them. Instead, they’re telling artists to start a blog and start adding content in order to draw traffic to their site. Then out your music online and start building a fan base. Once you got a certain number of visitors to you’re site, then you can start talking about record deals.

So they’re you have it folks. I’ve been breathing down your necks for quite some time about how important it is to start a website and start blogging in order to promote yourself. Now you have million dollar record labels asking you to do the same thing. What more of a push do you need?

it’s pretty transparent though, right? the more ‘friends’ your band has, the better source for pushing advertising. no?
genuine talent and quality music is over, finished.
