It was a week ago today that one of my sites got seriously “Dugg”; we got around 850 Diggs, made the homepage, and received over 20,000 visitors as a result. This was great obviously, especially for a fairly new site that has been more of a pet project than something we expect to pay the bills with.

The site’s team was excited as hell to sift through comment after comment on both their site and on Digg. It was the first time they got to see the site give us this much traffic. It’s also the first time they looked at me and really started to understand the social media scene I’ve been preaching to them for some time now.

Are traffic obviously was good but short lived. However, were going strong and have about double the visitors we had before per day, as well as some nice links from other related sites. The programmers are also working around the clock on new things that they may have held off on for a bit; now they’re amped and ready to kill it. They see the potential of every post, and are anxious to get serious.

Pay attention to your social media scene. Knock it if you want, but it’s here to stay. If you don’t embrace it, others will.
