The great thing about the blogosphere is everybody gets throw their two cents into the mix, and that usually means different opinions. This much is true when we start talking about all the “widgets” we’ve seen pop up as of late all over the web.

Some argue that developing widgets are a great way to increase links and traffic; many put them down for slowing browser loading times. Whether you believe they’re good or not for your site is irrelevant; widgets are here to stay and part of the evolution of web publishing.

Widgetbox allows you to turn your blog into a widget (or “blidget”) that you can customize, add to your MySpace pages, and share with others through their community.

Speaking of the commmunity, this is where the real value exists. Developers can add their own widgets and use Widgetbox to promote them. The community rates widgets, with top-rated and most popular widgets getting home page attention.

You probably already noticed that I created a “blidget” for one of our microbrew beer site, introducing the site to Evolvor readers. Go ahead and make one for yourself; let us know about your widgets here in the comments.

    Hi Eric,

Widgetbox is definitely one of my favorites as well. There’s just SO much going on in that space that it can make my head spin at times!

Yeah, it can be hard to get carried away with them as well. I just love how it’s making web publishing so much easier. Dragging and dropping and my mother can build a website. It’s not that far around the corner!
