It makes me sick to my stomach when I think about the first time I was introduced to Wordpress.

It was back in May of 2005. I was still learning the ropes of the search marketing industry and had just recently taken an interest in reading some regular blogs by those in the industry. I was tired of scouring forums looking for information; I had the basics down and was trying to keep my sanity. Reading blogs by some favorties of mine kept a fresh spin on the subject matter while dragging me even further into the world of Internet marketing.

I decided to start my own Wordpress blog. This was a free blog that resided on the Wordpress server, which limited my ability to change the look and feel of the blog. I had started a blogger account a month earlier, but decided a Wordpress blog was “more professional”. It would be another year before I learned how to host my own blog using the Wordpress open-source software (which is used to this day).

I started to write posts, here and there. I wasn’t consistent. I didn’t have someone breathing down my throat or preaching the good book of reasons to be consistent with my posting. What an idiot.

It wouldn’t be until a year and half later before I got in the real swing of things and started blogging regularly. And it was that point that I started to really get “it”, and started to see an increase in my traffic.

To know that I could have a year and a half more in my archives under my belt does hurt. I could have documented so much more research, provided so many more resources, and built that much more of a reputation.

Don’t get me wrong; I’m well on my way.

But I learned a valuable lesson in the process. It’s never to early to start blogging. There’s so much to learn that you just won’t understand untill you get out there and start.

Once you get going, it gets easier every day. It becomes a part of you and your routine. It becomes something your proud of.

So get off your butt and take charge of your future, your business, your career. Start discussing your knowledge with the world.

You don’t need an elaborate site. Get a free Wordpress blog. Or a Blogger account.

Just do it.
