Not Sold on Solo SEO

Solo SEO, an online project management software program, was released today for all the world to try. They are currently letting customers try the software out with a trial offer, but the software does have a monthly fee of $29.00 a month. I will note that this is an introductory price so expect the software to cost more as new features are added in the future.I must say that it is very hard to sell me on any software that claims to assist those in managing their internet marketing campaigns, simple because there is so much involved and I have yet to see a software program that handles all of them. Solo SEO provides assistance in managing some elements of search engine optimization, link building, & content development in an easy to use interface that very closely resembles the dashboard used by Wordpress. Okay I’m kidding, it’s completely ripped off from Wordpress, but that’s fine because it gives you that familiar feeling, which is probably a good thing for a new software program to do.

Google Yourself

I’m sure that most of the world has “Googled” themselves at some point. While most may see it as a time-killing novelty to go rummaging through Google’s results to find things either about themselves or friends and family, I see it as very very important to not only my career but to my general reputation as well. I was out of the top ten results on Google for a short time and have made a triumphant return at # 6. Also, my handsome mug is # 1 under Google’s Image Search. This picture, I am thankful for, ranks higher than some other pictures of me that exist which I’d rather not ever see at all (i.e. me with a pink feathered boa, me in a blue superhero costume, me in a dress–you get the idea–pay attention to your own Google results!)

Purchase the New Incubus Album

So I’m trying to add my Amazon Affiliate code into my last post about the new Incubus album “Light Grenades”. For some reason it is not working, so I’m going to try it in a single post to see if the YouTube script had anything to do with it.

How to Insert an Image Using Wordpress

So I think I’m going to go on a video binge here. The following video is a short tutorial I found on You Tube about how to insert an image using Wordpress, for those of you who are just joining the WordPress army.

Video Introduction to Wordpress

I’ve been thinking about doing some video tutorials on how to use WordPress. Untill I have these videos fully produced, here is a video I picked up from YouTube that discusses some basics of using the WordPress software. Grab some popcorn and enjoy.

SEO Title Tag WordPress Plug-In

Over the next few days I will be discussing different WordPress Plug-ins I have uploaded to some of my sites recently. Most of my clients already have these plug-ins installed by default, including NetConcepts’ SEO Title Tag Plug-In. By default, WordPress displays your blog’s name as the main title tag; however, to optimize your site properly we all know you need relevant keywords in your title tag. These keywords usually differ from the name of your site, so therein lies the need for this plug-in. It allows you to add a different title tag for your home page and gives you several options to customize your sites other pages. Pick it up if your serious about search engine optimization.

Rand Fishkin, Lee Odden, & Todd Malicoat : Geeks Talk Links

I’m hoping this video interview of Rand Fishkin, Lee Odden, Todd Malicoat discussing inbound links and the differences in obtaining them helps those who may be in the dark about the importance of link baiting. Or it will really really confuse the hell out of you.

Text Link Brokers’ “Hosted Marketing Pages”

So I stumbled upon an interesting concept from Text Link Brokers referred to as “Hosted Marketing Pages“. Seems they’ll generate a custom content page that they will place on a related website in their network. The page generated will be high in keyword density and feature links to your site again using keywords in your anchor text. This of course as we all know is good for your search engine rankings (that is, having a web page who’s content is relevant to yours using relevant keywords and relevant anchor text.) I am not one who has ever used a paid link service in the past and am not using an affiliate link in this post. I am just wondering if anybody out there HAS used this and am curious as to any results achieved versus cost. Also, if anyone can point me to a site in the Text Link Broker’s network that uses it, Throw me a link and I’ll post it here.

RSS Readers

For all my new students looking for an RSS reader, I’ve found a list of RSS readers for you to consider. I personally use Mozilla Thunderbird as my default reader, because it handles my email and my feeds at the same time. However, I also use Bloglines as a browser-based feed reader to keep tabs on blogs in case I’m away from my computer for an extended period of time. Which is painfully never.
