Many consider the profession of journalism strictly limited to traditional media such as print (newspapers & magazines) and audio/video (radio & television). With the advent of the internet, every single person on the planet has been given the opportunity to be a journalist, to write articles and white papers on any subject they so desire to talk about.

However, while many write articles about their interests or hobbies, few realize the potential these articles could have in marketing a product or service for your business. Some may, and they more than likely gather attention to an article they have written using email or maybe even a blog. Another method exists, one very powerful in addition to these two in regards to getting your article in front of many eyeballs: Article Submission Services.

Hundreds or article directories exist today on the internet. Some consist of articles written about a specific topic or interest while others may catalogue general article categories. Thousands of websites use these article directories to generate content for their websites, to complement their own products or services. Some of the articles linked to from evolvor.com were actually found in some article directories.

Here’s how it works. Let’s pretend you are a financial advisor, and you just wrote a small article about opening a Roth IRA. At the end of the article you list your name and, of course, a link to your website. Then you submit this article to some article directories.

A few days later, 10 other financial advisors search these article directories searching for an article that introduces their viewers to Roth IRAs. Bingo! They find your article and post it on their website (many will even incorporate these articles into their own email marketing campaign!). Your name is there and so are your links (although the value of these links is limited to the traffic that comes through them). Not only does this method produce extra traffic from the various websites that your articles are posted on, it reinforces yourself in the industry.

General perception is that someone who writes articles must be quite educated about the topic, otherwise they would’nt be writing about it. So, when someone sees your name at the end of an article, then continues to see that name in related articles, it’s easy to convince them of your expertise in a specific area, which reinforces your business and increases your chance to sell your products and services. And you do want to be known as an expert, right?
